Lavrov and Steinmeier to discuss visa waiver between Russia and the EU
On evening, February 14, foreign ministers of Russia and Germany will hold a meeting to discuss prospects for visa-free regime between Russia and the European Union.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier is currently on a working visit to Moscow. In yesterday’s interview to Russian media, the diplomat noted: “Our common goal is to do everything possible for EU residents to visit Russia as often as possible, and the Russians — to visit European Union countries. Visa-free travel is a step forward in our relationship. The negotiations have already seen some progress.”
Recently, Russia was going to sign a visa facilitation agreement with Brussels, but at the last moment Europeans pulled out, noting that they are not ready yet for such a step.
