Viktor An wins Winter Olympics again
The three gold medals earned by Victor An in Turin now will be joined by a medal from short-track in Sochi.
A 1,000 meters short track competition ended with a predicted victory of Russian athlete Victor An. In this discipline, he confirmed his success eight years ago, when the athlete won three medals Olympic Games in Turin. At the time, he played for South Korea. Then Victor received a serious knee injury — and was ditched: South Korea did not take the ten-times world champion to Vancouver.
In 2011, his father sent an email to the Russian Short-Track Federation. The Federation accepted the athlete, lobbied Russian citizenship for him, cured and included into the national team.
In Sochi, Viktor An already won bronze in 1,500 meters distance. Now he added to his achievements gold medal for 1,000 metres race. The silver went to another Russian, Vladimir Grigoriev. Incidentally, he started to master this sport in Ukraine. Sjinkie Knegt, Dutchman, finished third.
