Russian pair sets world record in short skating program
Volosozhar and Trankov scored the highest score for their performance in the history of figure skating. Ukrainian couple Lavrenteva/Rudyck are last.
Short program for pairs at the Olympic Games in Sochi was won by the Russian pair Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov. Olympic Champions of the 2014 Games in the team competition set a world record — 84.17 points. After the first day of competition, German pair Aliona Savchenko/Robin Szolkowy are in the second place. At the end of the top-three list are the skaters from Russia Ksenia Stolbova/Fedor Klimov.
Julia Lavrenteva and Yuri Rudyck from Ukraine ranked last, 20th place. Tomorrow’s freestyle performance will be held without Ukrainian athletes.
