Two Olympic champions in women’s downhill race

Slovenian Tina Maze and Dominique Gisin from Sweden shared the gold medal in Sochi.

The alpine skiers showed the same result — 1 minute 41.57 seconds. This means that there will be no silver medal in this program. The bronze went to another Swede, Lara Gut. She lost to the world champions tenth of a second. For Switzerland, gold of Dominique Gisin is the third in Sochi. Tina Maze brought for Slovenia the very first gold in the history of its athletes’ performances at the Winter Olympics. Slovenes first joined the Winter Olympics in the 1992 Games in Albertville.

Monaco athlete Alexandra Coletti was injured today during descent, falling off the track at a speed of 97 km/hour.
