Power fault effects mitigated, Kharkov Railway station operates normally
From February 10, Kharkov Railway station functions in standard mode. Earlier, local trains run following a revised timetable (from February, 5) due to a technical fault, reports the press service of the Southern Railway. Now the routes for local commuter trains arriving at and departing from Kharkov Station have been restored in full.
Rerouting of local commuter trains at Kharkov Station was initiated on evening, February 5, due to a sudden power supply failure to the railway switches and signaling. The passengers were evacuated from the smoky basement of the station, there was no light in the entire building, ticket offices and lockers did not operate for several hours. Ministry of Emergency units were called in to eliminate the consequences of the accident.
After the power failure, rail switches operated in a manual mode. A special commission composed of representatives of regulatory and law enforcement authorities researches for the cause of the technical failure.
