Results of capturing administrative buildings in Vinnitsa region — UAH 2 million damage
Vinnitsa regional authorities estimate the damage caused by the capture of administrative buildings by radical protesters at about UAH 2 million, said representative of regional authorities during a meeting with Nils Muiznieks, Commissioner for Human Rights at the Council of Europe, on February 8.
Thus, premises Vinnitsa Regional State Administration and Vinnitsa Council have been damaged.
According to first deputy head of Regional Council Igor Krevo, currently the special commission assesses the damage, currently totaling about UAH 500,000. “But if we consider completely destroyed secret ballot system “Rada” in the boardroom, which costs UAH 1.5 million, the total amount of damages nears UAH 2 million,” said Igor Krevo.
In turn, the regional governor Ivan Movchan said that capture of the building lasted about six minutes. “As a result, radical groups blocked all four floors, basement and attic. A large quantity of explosives was accumulated during the siege, while the premises have wooden floors,” noted Movchan.
Storming of the administrative building- home to the Vinnitsa Regional State Administration and Vinnitsa Regional Council — started on January 25, during an extraordinary session of the Regional Council.
More than a thousand of protesters broke doors and entered into the premises of Vinnitsa Regional State Administration. Law enforcers tried to push the crowd away but the people broke into the hall, blasting firecrackers, using gas cartridges and stun grenades.
As a result of the storming, 10 police officers received injuries of varying severity.
