The police of the capital reported detention of four activists of Euromaidan, who arranged lynching of a fellow.
According to the press-service of the police of the capital, on February 9 at about 11:00 p.m. the call center of the Podol district directorate of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of internal Affairs of Ukraine (MVD) in Kiev received a message to the police emergency telephone number 102 about the fact that three people dragged out of the car a young man with his hands tied and took him in the direction of the Dnieper. The crime scene investigation team of Podol district directorate urgently set off to the place of the incident.
A 31-year-old man addressed the police on their arrival, who told the law enforcement officers that he came to the capital in the beginning of January from Ivano-Frankovsk region to participate in the protest on Maidan Nezalejnosti.
"According to him, late in the evening a group of 4 men began beating him and demanding money in the amount of 14,000 UAH in the building of the Ukrainian House. The group of activists allegedly suspected him in theft of money, which the citizens donated for the needs of the protesters. After he rejected the accusations and said that he did not take the money, the men tied his hands, pushed him into the vehicle and took him under the bridge in Naberezhno-Lugovaya Street. There they continued beating him and demanding money," the police of the capital informed.
The police detained all the people involved in lynching at the spot of the offense. They turned out to be a 36-year-old resident of Ternopol region, a 33-year-old resident of Vinnitsa region, a 45-year-old resident of Kiev region and a 30-year-old resident of Lugansk region.
"They informed the policemen their own version of what has happened. Allegedly, they had information that this activist was repeatedly stealing money from the donation box. That is why they decided to teach him a lesson. For this purpose with the intention to scare him they took him to the river and tied his hands with adhesive tape," the police informed.
The information about the incident was recorded in the general register of pre-trial investigations in accordance with part 2 of the article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (extortion), which stipulates punishment in the form of imprisonment for 3 - 7 years.
