Current World Champion will run for Ukraine in tomorrow’s biathlon sprint
Yelena Pidgrushna will be joined on the track by Yulia Jima, sisters Vita and Valya Semerenko.
These four biathletes received approvals from the coaching staff to represent the country in the first Olympic women’s race. All the top members of the Ukrainian team will be able to start in Sochi. One year ago, at the World Championship in Czech Nove-Myasto, Yelena Pidgrushna was awarded golden medal in sprint, while Vita Semerenko was third to finish. We’re expecting success this time around, too. Experts predict that the main rivals of Ukrainian athletes will be Kaisa Myakyaraynen from Finland, Tora Berger from Norway, Darya Domracheva from Belarus and Olga Zaitseva from Russia. Women’s sprint starts at 16:30 Kiev time.
