Russia expects Ukraine to pay for the gas
Russia’s Minister of Economic Development Anton Siluanov tied the second tranche of Russia’s financial help to Ukraine with honoring the gas debts by Kiev.
“We are waiting for Ukrainian side to honor the commitments on payments for gas. After all, the sum is not that small. In January there should have been a payment, but it has not materialized yet; after all, we want to honor each other’s obligations,” said Siluanov.
In December 2013, Russia and Ukraine reached an agreement on a significant cut in gas prices and a $15 billion loan.
In late January, the Acting Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergei Arbuzov said that Ukraine expects to receive shortly the second tranche of $2 billion from the RF.
