Construction work on “Kharkov Arena” sports complex to resume soon
The management of “Kharkov Arena” today issued a statement denying the rumors on stopping the construction of the sports complex. In fact, the works were only temporary suspended due to project company’s waiting for the credit, and, secondly, due to severe frosts. Once the necessary funds have been received and the weather conditions improve, the work will be resumed. Therefore, there is no threat to Eurobasket-2015.
The statement, in particular, notes, “At the moment, the construction is financed by an investor, in the near future we expect to sign the relevant documents and get the bank credit in line with the approved state program for Eurobasket-2015 preparation. This will ensure transition to the active phase of construction, so that the work will quickly adjust to the deadlines.”
“Kharkov Arena” is the name of a multipurpose sports complex being installed in Kharkov at 2-B Marshal Zhukov Avenue. The planned height is four floors. The project includes an audience hall with mobile and stationary stands and VIP boxes, two training halls and a sports school. The Arena can accommodate up to 7,000 audience at once. A specific feature of “Kharkov Arena” will be its universality: the place will can be tailored for many sports (about 100), including basketball, handball, volleyball, hockey, various martial arts. The general investor of the project is State Corporation “East European Fuel&Energy Company” (VETEK) — in total, the corporation will invest about 350 million UAH. The project is scheduled for completion in December 2014, so that Kharkov can welcome the 2015 European Basketball Championship.
