Kharkov tennis player is one of the top 40 best tennis players of the world
The Kharkov tennis player Elina Svitolina took 38th place in the rating of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). Compared with the previous year she improved her result by 9 positions. Thus, she confirmed the informal title of "the first racket of Ukraine": the rest of the Ukrainian tennis players are in the second hundred.
Nadezhda Kichenok, the athlete from Dnepropetrovsk, is the closest to the top 100. She was given the 103rd place. Further, in the rating are Marina Zanevskaya (120th place), Lesya Tsurenko (132nd place), Olga Savchuk (180), Yulia Beygelzimer (183), Ekaterina Kozlova (190), Anastasiya Vasilieva (194).
This year, as well as the last year, Serena Williams (USA) headed the rating of the Women's Tennis Association. Victoria Azarenko (Belarus) and Na Li (China) took the second place.
Women's tennis association (WTA) is an international organization, which holds a series of elite competitions of women's professional tennis. It was founded in 1973. The geography of the tournaments, held under its auspices, is extremely broad: 32 countries of the world. Their total prize fund exceeds $96 million. 2,500 tennis players from 92 countries participate in the tournaments.
