Seizure of Justice Ministry, criminal proceedings opened
On evening of January 26, protesters took over the building of the Justice Ministry on 13 Gorodetsky Street in Kiev, reports PR office of Interior Ministry in Kiev.
About 50 young people in masks and helmets, armed with wooden and metal sticks penetrated the building, informs the Kiev police. They broke down the entrance doors, damaged the metal window frame on the ground floor, and smashed the glass. Service entry to Justice Ministry is barricaded from the inside.
The protesters refuse the police request to enter the premises and inspect the building, stating that they captured the ministry for heating and overnight stay.
The incident has been included in the Unified Register of pre-trial investigations under Part 1 Article 341 of the Criminal Code (“Capture of the state or public buildings or structures”). The investigation continues.
