OSCE is ready to mediate in talks between protesters and the authorities
Head of the OSCE expressed his condolences for the families of those killed and wounded on both sides of the barricades. He said that the OSCE has “tools and mechanisms” needed to perform the role of an unbiased mediator, and is ready to support the Ukrainian authorities “in reducing tensions and preventing further escalation”.
This information is recorded in the statement of Swiss Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter, who currently heads the OSCE, as published on the OSCE website on the evening of January 22, according to LB news agency.
The minister, who is also the federal president of the country, urged all parties to stop the violence and start a peaceful dialog and peaceful resolution of the crisis.
“I urge all parties to refrain from violence and try to stabilize the situation through dialog involving all parties. I am deeply concerned about reports of the victims and my thoughts are with the families of those killed and wounded. During OSCE Chairmanship, Switzerland is ready to help Ukraine to find the way out of the crisis," said Burkhalter.
“We urge the Ukrainian authorities to do everything in their power to prevent further escalation of tension", said the head of the Swiss Foreign Ministry.
