People's Deputy reminds the US State Department about the sovereign status of Ukraine
Ukrainian deputy Vadym Kolesnichenko addressed the chair of the Security Service of Ukraine demanding an investigation into the US providing $5bn in financing for the Ukrainian opposition.
According to Kolesnichenko, the statement by the Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland that America has already spent $5 billion on democracy in Ukraine, which she made at the meeting of the "Ukraine-USA" Fund, may confirm the foreign interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine, activities aimed at undermining its territorial integrity and support for radical groups in the country.
At the same time, marks Kolsnichenko, “there is no information about the subjects receiving these funds in Ukraine, their areas of operation, support of specific projects, programs, compliance of the foreign funding to the national interests of Ukraine; this undermines the credibility and troubles the citizens of Ukraine”.
According to the People’s Deputy, the UN Charter, the Declaration on Principles of International Law, the Declaration on the Inadmissibility of Intervention in the Domestic Affairs of States and the Protection or Their Independence and Sovereignty, establish the policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of the country - no State or group of States has the right to interfere directly or indirectly, for any reason, in the internal or external affairs of any other State.
“Actually, the first Article of the Constitution declares that Ukraine is a sovereign state. Ukraine's sovereignty extends on the whole territory of the country (Part 1 of the Article 2 of the Constitution). Article 5 of the Constitution determines that the people are the only bearer of sovereignty and the only source of power in Ukraine," emphasizes Kolesnichenko.
