Most Ukrainians favour talks between the government and opposition — poll results
The “Democratic Initiatives” Fund and Razumkov’s Ukrainian Centre for Economic and Political Studies conducted a survey among residents of Ukraine concerning events occurring in the country.
According to the results, 69% of residents of Western Ukraine and 39.5% of Eastern Ukraine believe that the authorities may start repressive crackdown against protesters in Kiev. 26.6% of respondents from the east of the country and 1.3% from the west voted for forceful crackdown of EuroMaidan. 72.7% of respondents agree for a roundtable meeting between the government and the opposition, while 13.8% of respondents are opposed to it.
The survey was conducted from 20 to 24 December 2013; experts interviewed 2,010 respondents aged over 18 years in all regions of Ukraine. Theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%.
