Christmas festival starts in Odessa Opera Theater
Today Christmas festival 2014 starts in Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.
The concert Christmas Stories will open the festival. As the conductor and director of the concert program Oksana Luniv told to Ukrinform, both Orthodox and Catholic Christmas will be shown on the stage of the Opera Theater. "For the Catholic people Christmas is family and intimate holiday, which is celebrated at home. For the Orthodox people it is the people's celebration, carols, outdoor fun," Luniv noted.
In the first part of the Christmas Stories the music of such world-known composers as Berlioz, Wagner, Delius and Mozart will be performed. Christmas folklore fairy tale based on the works of Gogol expressed in the musical works of Dankevich, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and Lysenko is planned to be performed in the second part.
In the framework of the festival the concert program “Magic Music of Christmas” will be held on Sunday, January 12, and the concert “There is delightful Rossini ... and Dunaevsky” will take place on January 14.
