There will be no decrease of tariffs for heating
The National Commission, which carries out the state control in the sphere of public utiliites, has no reason to reduce tariffs for thermal energy for the population. The head of the department Sergey Saratov has justified that with the rates for such heating being calculated based on the cost of gas of the Ukrainian production.
According to him, the cost of the Ukrainian gas including the VAT is 1.309 thousand UAH per one thousand cubic meters, while the price of the gas imported from Russia, which was set on December 30, is 2.448 thousand UAH per one thousand cubic meters.
"Therefore, the Commission has no reason to revise the tariffs for thermal energy for the population," Saratov explained.
It should be noted that, according to Moscow agreements, Russia reduced the price of gas for the Ukrainian side by almost one third to $268.5 per one thousand cubic meters. In this respect, the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych ordered the Prime Minister Nikoaly Azarov to ensure the reduction of the price for gas for the Ukrainian consumers.
On December 30, 2013 the National Electricity Regulatory Commission reduced the maximum gas price for industrial consumers by 10% (to 3,113 thousand UAH per 1,000 cubic meters), for budgetary institutions by 29.2% (to 2,448 thousand UAH per 1,000 cubic meters) starting with January 1, 2014.
In his turn the Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Vilkul stated that the price of gas for the population will not be reduced in 2014.
