Oil-carrier train hits a beans train. Video
Oil-carrier freight train derailed near the US city of Casselton (North Dakota) after a collision with another train, Reuters reports, citing Cecily Fong, representative of state emergency management.
The incident occurred at about 10 pm on December 30, a mile west of Casselton. First to derail was the train carrying soybeans, with oil freighter crashing into it. The incident resulted in a major fire with at least five powerful explosions.
Ten rail tanks with oil are on fire, CNN reports. The City Fire Service has been put on alarm as the accident occurred near the ethanol production plant.
Emergency teams are working at the scene. According to preliminary reports, no one was hurt in the incident.
