Ports of Venice close
Venice is buried in draughts. For the last several days, torrential rains and snowfalls with strong gusts of wind caused the closure of the ports of Genoa and Cagliari. Meteorological services registered in Liguria record rainfall — 350 millimeters. In the Northern part of the Apennine mountains, it rains heavily, too. In addition, there is a fixed stormy wind and heavy storms.
Wind on the shores of the Tyrrhenian and Liguria seas reached 27 meters per second, according to the forecasters. To carry out marine transport signals between the Islands of Capri and Ischia, in the Bay of Naples, is impossible.
The water level in Venice increased to 115 centimeters. Tourist areas are flooded and require repair.
The Department of civil defence of Venice informs the local population. Experts of the Department predict normalization of weather next week.
