Carrier cable fixed on the aerial railway “Miskhor - Ai-Petri” in Crimea
A 25-ton carrier cable was replaced on the aerial railway “Miskhor - Ai-Petri” in Crimea, reported Oleg Maevski, head of Gospromnadzor Territorial branch in ARC and Sevastopol.
In Ukraine, such technical operation was carried out for the first time.
Due to the difficulties of installation, replacement work for the cable took two months. In particular, the main problems during replacing the carrier cable were a large weight of the cable itself, mountainous terrain and sharp vertical drops.
Especially challenging was the task of replacing the cable on the central segment - for 2 km, there is not a single support, and weight of the rope in tension was about 60 tons.
Currently all works have been completed, the aerial railway “Miskhor - Ai-Petri” is operating normally.
