Russia denied unrestricted border crossing for Ukrainians
According to the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Grigoriy Karasin, Russia has no plans of letting the Ukrainian citizens to cross the border without an international passport. However, visa regime will not be introduced.
Karasin noted that it is for the sake of both states. Making this decision will contribute to improvement of control of the departing migrants as well as to their safe stay on the territory of Russia, and will also make the crossing of the border more civilized.
Let us remind that the address of the Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin to the Federal Assembly provisioned the entrance to Russia for all of the foreign citizens, including Ukrainians, only with the international passports. Putin promised to implement this reform by 2015. Herewith, Putin emphasized that in the framework of the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Community the current regime of the board crossing with the maximum simplified regulations would continue to be valid.
Currently the border is crossed either with internal or with international passport.
