Reconstruction of Dergachyovsky solid domestic waste landfill will continue in 2014 — the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources
Oleg Proskuryakov, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, visited Kharkov region on December 17. During the visit, the Minister inspected Dergachevsky solid waste landfill, discussed the plans for its reconstruction with Kharkov Regional Administration and met with students of Kharkov Beketov’s National University of Urban Economy. Oleg Proskuryakov said that reconstruction of Dergachyovsky landfill will continue in 2014.
The Minister noted that the future belongs to separate waste collection. He emphasized that work with communities will be required for successful development of this industry. Proskuryakov informed that Lugansk region launched a pilot project on introduction of separate waste collection and it produced good results.
During the discussion about the quality of drinking water in Kharkov region the Minister said that at this stage the government initiated a project on cleaning the riverbed of the Seversky Donets river. This will greatly improve the quality of drinking water in three regions of Ukraine.
