Janis Joplin has been honoured with a star on Walk of Fame
The name of the singer Janis Joplin can now be seen on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood. 40 years after her death, 2510th star was given to the legendary rock and blues singer, who would have been 70 in the beginning of October 2013.
Brother and sister of deceased singer were present at the ceremony of opening the star as well as the country singer Kris Kristofferson, the author of the song Me and Bobby McGee, which was considered to be the most famous song performed by Joplin.
Janis Joplin, who died in 1970 at the age of 27 from drug overdose, managed to record four studio albums in her short career. Besides Me and Bobby McGee, her most famous songs are Down on Me, Summertime, Cry Baby and Mercedes Benz. Joplin performed at Woodstock festival in 1969.
