Two writers from Ukraine have become the members of the jury of the Russian Award
The members of the jury of the international literary contest Russian Award have been announced. The literary historian and editor in chief of the magazine Znamya Sergey Chuprinin became the chairman of the jury for the fifth time. The following writers will continue their cooperation as the members of the jury: writer and publicist Alexander Arkhangelsky (Russia), writers Herman Sadulaev (Russia), Andrey Kurkov (Ukraine) and Elena Skulskaya (Estonia), literary critic and translator Boris Kuzminsky (Russia), poet, editor in chief of the magazine SHO Alexandr Kabanov (Ukraine) and poet, translator and laureate of the Russian Award in 2010 Natalia Gorbanevskaya. Evgeniy Abdullaev has joined the jury of the contest this season. He is prose writer, poet and critic from Uzbekistan who writes under the pseudonym Sukhbat Afhlatuni; he became the first prize winner of the Russian Award in 2005 for his Tashkent Novel.
The international literary contest Russian Award was established in 2005 with the intention to preserve and develop the Russian language as a unique phenomenon of the world culture and to support the Russian speaking writers of the world. According to the rating of the expert community, Russian Award is one of the five the most prestigious Russian literary awards. The official partner of the contest is The Presidential Center of Boris Yeltsin.
During eight years of existence of the Russian Award more than 60 writers from 19 countries became the laureates of the contest, including Bakhyt Kenjeev, Boris Khazanov, Natalya Gorbanevskaya, Yuz Aleshkovsky, Anastasiya Afanasyeva, Marina Palei, Andrey Ivanov, Margarita Meklina, Vladimir Lorchenkov, Mariam Petrosyan, Marianna Goncharova and Dina Rubina. Nine books have been published within the framework of the contest.
The works for nomination for the award in 2013 will be accepted until November 30. The organizing committee will announce the long list in March of the following year. The finalists and then the laureates will be known in April.
