The first international competition of violinists takes place in Lvov
The first international competition of violinists is taking place in Lvov. During 10 days from October, 24 till November, 3 the performers aged from sixteen up to twenty eight may participate in the competition that consists of 3 rounds.
The violinists from Ukraine, Russia, Japan and the USA have registered in the first qualifying extramural round. Having studied all the applications, the jury members – the best violinists and pedagogues of the world and Ukraine – will invite the most impressive participants to Lvov.
Jury of the competition consists of the 8 well-known violinists of the world, including Igor Pilatiuk from Ukraine, Valeri Vorona from Russia and Sachiko Mizuna from Japan.
The pedagogue and musician Oleg Krisa, who is the student of Daniil Oistrakh and presently is a professor of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, has become the chairman of the competition.
“My concert and pedagogical activity, membership in jury of many prestigious international competitions of violinists have convinced me in the unlimited talent of the Ukrainian nation. However, my heart always ached for young Ukrainian musicians when I compared their opportunities with the opportunities of their peers from Europe, the USA or Japan. What a disservice lies in the fact that young talents from Ukraine cannot afford to participate in the most prestigious competitions of the world mainly because of the financial reasons!” the maestro explained his decision to establish the prestigious international competition among the young virtuoso violinists in Ukraine.
The contest takes place in the building of philharmonic society and conservatory of Lvov. All the rounds of the contest are open to the music admirers. Having checked the schedule, those who wish can listen to the violin compositions by Bach, Paganini, Venyavsky, Schnittke, Barkauskas, Karabits, Mozart, Ysaÿe, Ravel, Sarasate, Saint-Saëns, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Brahms, Prokofiev, Grieg, Liatoshinsky, Skokik and Bruch.
The first international contest of the violinists will end with the gala concert given by the winners.
The prize fund of the competition comprises arout 900,000 hryvnas.
