On October 22 -31 the national days of combating psoriasis take place in Ukraine
The days of combating psoriasis take place in Ukraine. During a week different social events will be held to attract attention of the public to the problem of psoriasis as well as the events for the patients, their relatives and doctors.
The global day of combating psoriasis is traditionally held all over the world on October 29 starting with year 2004. This event takes place under the patronage of the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations (IFPA). The Ukrainian Association of Psoriasis as a member of IFPA joined this initiative in 2009.
The main topic of these days is the disease that amounts to around 3 percent of the overall number of the diseases by the prevalence, which means that the real quantity of affected people in Ukraine is more than one million, many of whom are children for whom this diagnosis very often becomes a sentence. Psoriasis is a lifetime state which does not undergo absolute cure. However, this disease could and should be controlled.
The working group of the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine developed the project of the concept of the government special purpose program of treatment of the patients with psoriasis including the patients with complicated clinical course and with psoriatic arthritis for the period up to 2015. The program has been developed aiming at the improvement of the treatment of the patients with psoriasis with complicated clinical course and with psoriatic arthritis via improvement of the standard examination system to diagnose the disease timely and apply the effective variants of the modern therapy.
During the briefing dedicated to the opening of the national days of combating psoriasis the chief out-of-staff dermatologist of the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine Alexandr Litus reported on the availability of all the modern methods for the treatment of the disease in Ukraine.
