The bicentenary anniversary of Shevchenko may be included into the calendar of UNESCO
During the 37th session of the General UNESCO conference states-members passed the recommendation to add to the calendar of the commemorative dates to which UNESCO will join during 2014-2015 four of the suggested by Ukraine anniversary dates. Among the four suggested dates is the Taras Shevchenko birthday celebrated on March, 9. Another suggested dates are 150th anniversary of Pavlo Grabovskii, 150th anniversary of Mikhailo Kotsiubinskii, 200th anniversary of Mikhailo Verbitskii.
The first deputy of the Minister of International Affairs of Ukraine Ruslan Demchenko informed that the mentioned above recommendation will be finally passed in the course of the last plenary assembly of the Conference on November 20.
In June Ukraine addressed UNESCO with the application to celebrate the bicentenary anniversary of the poet Taras Shevchenko internationally in 2014. President Viktor Yanukovych assigned the Ministry of International Affairs to take all measures needed to bring into the appropriate conditions all the places of interest connected with the poet Taras Shevchenko abroad. He also promises the large-scale celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birthday of Taras Shevchenko in 2014 all over Ukraine.
